Subscriptions

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, so you cancel with them, not with us:

• iPhone: Settings, tap your name, Subscriptions, Papote, Cancel Subscription.
• Android: Play Store, profile icon, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, Papote, Cancel.

Cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or period ends to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

I paid but Papote still shows the paywall

Open Papote and tap Restore purchases on the paywall. That re-checks your purchase with the app store. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with. If it still doesn't unlock, email us with your store receipt and we'll sort it out.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by the store, not by us. On iOS use reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android use the Play Store order history. If a technical fault on our side caused the problem, tell us and we'll support your refund request.

Your words and progress

Will my saved words move to a new phone?

Papote has no account, so your saved words, review schedule and streaks live on your device and do not follow you anywhere by themselves. Two ways to carry them across:

• iCloud backup (iPhone). Turn it on in Settings. Papote then keeps one backup file in its own folder on your iCloud, and a fresh install signed in to the same Apple ID can restore from it. It is off until you switch it on, and we cannot read it.
• Export the file yourself. Settings has an export that hands you a file you can email, save, or drop in any cloud. On the new phone, paste it back into the restore box. It works on Android too, where there is no automatic backup yet.

Your subscription is separate and always carries over with Restore purchases.

I turned off analytics. Did that break anything?

No. The switch in Settings stops the app sending usage events and crash reports, and nothing else changes. We lose the ability to see that a bug hit you, so if something goes wrong afterwards, email us the details instead.

A caption or translation is wrong

Transcripts and translations are machine-generated and will sometimes be wrong, especially where French runs words together, and with slang and fast speech. Use the report control on the clip, or email us the clip and what it should say. Corrections feed straight back into the catalog.

Where do the word definitions come from?

From WikDict by Karl Bartel, built from Wiktionary data via DBnary and licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. The app credits it wherever definitions appear. If a definition looks wrong, tell us and we will check it, though the fix for the underlying entry belongs upstream at wikdict.com.

Video and content

A video won't play

Clips play through YouTube's official player. If one fails, it usually means the creator made it private, deleted it, or disabled embedding. Swipe to the next clip and we'll prune it from the catalog. Check your connection too, since Papote needs one to stream.

I'm a creator and want a clip removed

Email support@tcfusion.dev from an address associated with the channel, with a link to the video. We'll remove it from the catalog promptly. Papote never hosts or re-uploads video: clips play in YouTube's embedded player and link back to your channel.

Privacy and data

Papote has no sign-up and keeps your learning data on your device. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy. To exercise a data right, email privacy@tcfusion.dev.
